Character Experiences Of Manipulation In The Film Inception?

In English I am currently writing required notes for a research
assignment on the Manipulation of Reality. One of the film's I'm
studying is Inception and I'm struggling to answer one of my focus
questions. Here it is :

• Is the manipulation a positive or negative experience for the
manipulator and those affected or does the effect vary?

I don't require an incredibly long answer, I just need points that I
can make about the varying effects referring specifically to
characters. Also I can figure out their exact names so don't worry
about getting names accurate.
